As of May 1, 2025, Israel is grappling with some of the most severe wildfires in its history, particularly in the areas surrounding Jerusalem. The fires have led to widespread evacuations, road closures, and a national emergency declaration by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.​

The wildfires have scorched over 20,000 dunams (approximately 20 square kilometers) of land, affecting forests, agricultural areas, and residential communities.
