Nigerian Singer Portable Arrested in Kwara Over Alleged Threats and Defamation Against Fuji Legend Saheed Osupa

Popular and controversial Nigerian artist, Portable, has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command following serious allegations involving criminal defamation, threats to life, incitement, and character assassination targeted at renowned Fuji musician, Saheed Osupa.

The arrest occurred in Abeokuta on Saturday, after Saheed Osupa filed a formal petition accusing Portable of using abusive and inflammatory language that could incite violence and damage his public image. Authorities confirmed that a valid arrest warrant was secured from an Ilorin Magistrate Court prior to the operation.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the police spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, Portable has been transferred to Ilorin for further interrogation. His official statement was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both parties. He remains in police custody as the investigation continues and court proceedings are being prepared.

The feud between the two musicians allegedly began last month after one of Portable’s songs was taken down from major music platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify due to copyright infringement. Osupa’s legal team claimed the track unlawfully borrowed a signature phrase associated with the Fuji star.

In retaliation, Portable reportedly lashed out at Osupa via social media, using derogatory terms like “big for nothing.” Despite a public apology and an attempt to blame his actions on his temper, the matter quickly escalated, leading to police involvement.
